Delta took us from IAH to Melbourne, Florida. Since they screwed us over on some frequent flyer tickets, we had to get the cheapest tickets we could. Alamo hooked us up with a sweet deal on a Mitsubishi Outlander, so we had plenty of room for the golf clubs. Stopped off at The Cove for an early bird special (yup, we were in Florida all right), and then cruised west into the interior of Florida.
Our primary destination was the Hilton Grand Vacations Club (HGVC) on International drive (not the one at Sea World). This was our first visit to the property, and we were very pleased. The accomodations were oustanding down to every last detail (granite countertops, bose entertainment system, etc). Here are some pics of the room:
The unfortunate outcome of this trip was that we (intentionally) didn't take the camera with us anywhere. That is why it is even more important to blog our experiences because we don't have any pictures :)

After sleeping in just a bit, we started the day with breakfast in the room and then headed out to the pool facilities. The pool was within view of our balcony, so a short walk put us in some cozy beach chairs with our bloody marys in hand.
After some joking around and reading (I was able to catch up on some Edward Abbey reading I have been meaning to get to), we wrapped up our belongings and it was back to the room to get ready for our round of golf. I had reserved us a tee-time at Hunter's Creek golf course nearby. I would certainly recommend this course if you are in the area. The greens could use a little work, but for the occasional golfers like us, you can't beat the value of the 2pm twilight tee time.

Friday was our day to do touristy stuff as we headed to Universal Studios for some rides and fun. In a just a few hours we were able to hit the Cat in the Hat ride (lame), Dueling Dragons (awesome), Spiderman (3-D!), Twister (not bad), Revenge of the Mummy (scary), and Men In Black (200,000 points :))
Dinner Friday was simple fare at the HGVC bar & grill (Toscana?) because we couldn't imagine leaving town without another one of those amazing burgers. While eating and watching Texas beat NM State in March Madness, we met a cool couple from Atlanta. They coaxed us into a few numbers on the poolside karaoke machine.

A 6am flight out of Melbourne (1.5 hours from Orlanda) put us in bed pretty early and we were out of the resort and on the road by 3am. Not much else to speak of. Nice easy Jack Johnson listenin on the bee line tollway and the fact that if you ever need to find the airport in Melbourne, don't throw away your map...
